Diego Rivera was born in 1886 in
Guanajuanto, Mexico. In 1904, Rivera painted this picture "La Era".
Diego River died in 1957 as a very famous muralist. The green colors in this painting show the vast meadows of Mexico. It looks as if this scene takes place in the evening. The shadows tell me that the sun is about to set. It has a large mountain in the distance. There is a single man along side of two mules. There is a large house with the red tiled roof. I like the painting because it is simple for the most part. it sort of has the feel of the old western days. However, the tone of the painting is sort of lonely because there is only one person for the miles that which we can see. I like the mountain in the background. It balances the painting with the large house on the right side. I like how the ground is made up of red clay which almost makes the mountain look purple. If I were to change this painting, I would add some people to make it more lively |
