This painting has its own significant history from the Spanish-American war. Guernica was painted in 1937 after the Spanish and American war ended and it was painted to show the horrors of war. The colors in this painting is mostly black and white and shades of gray, so the tone somewhat shows as no colors in life. The message of the painting was to show how war and violence haunts people. For example, there's a guy with deformed face at the bottom of the painting with his body also deformed and he's laying on the floor with a broken sword, that can represents how soldiers and innocents die in war.
I like the painting because it shows how cruel the world is and it makes me feel sad because all of those innocent deaths in a war. The setting is pretty much random with weird objects and shapes, with deformed human beings and animals. Its message to me was war terrible and it causes lots of problems. I would make the drawing more colorful to show more reflection of reality.
